Team Spotlight: Erin, Esthetician & Lash Artist

Deep down, Erin is a nature girl.  She lives on a hobby farm, and when she was young, she made “potion masks” made of mud and berries. Now, Erin works with Aveda, a natural skincare line, and is an expert in skincare and lash extensions in both Brookfield and Madison.

Everyone, meet Erin.

What inspired you to become an Esthetician/Lash Artist?

I knew that I wanted to be in this environment since I was pretty young. I remember making facial mask “potions” with berries from the trees and mud when I was a kid.

Starting out in Cosmetology school in 2000, I found my passion in the industry and continued to get my esthetic license in 2007 along with an extended certification in Advanced Skincare. Lashes came in to my life with the ever-changing trends and I fell in love. It’s therapeutic for me to apply a full set of lashes in the treatment room.

What exactly are lash extensions?

Most extensions are a synthetic fiber. Size availability ranges from 6mm to 17mm long and a variety of diameters to choose from.   Once selected, the lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue and tweezer like implements. One in the left hand to separate the lashes and one in the right hand to apply the extensions.

Lashes naturally shed when new growth takes over so I recommend getting your lashes “filled” every 2-3 weeks to keep up the appearance.

Proper home care and fills can make your lashes last as long as you want to invest in them.

What is the greatest misconception people have about skincare and lashes?

Skincare: That all skincare is equal. Look at those ingredients.

Lashes: I have had many people think that lash extensions are tubes that slide over the natural lash, or that they are permanent.  Neither is true.

What is your “beauty philosophy”?

Trying to be aware what goes into my body effects what’s on the outside. Keep it natural.

What piece of advice would you give to people before they get a lash/esthi service?

For lashes, come in with squeaky clean lashes and eyelids. I also recommend removing contacts, wearing comply clothes and cleansing around the eye area of all makeup.

For any other service, come as you are! We have what you need to be in a comfortable appointment including coffee, tea, infused H20 and snacks.
