Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

The Key to Overall Wellness

During this time of social distancing, we have an opportunity to take time we wouldn’t normally have on ourselves and our homes. I’ve found that one of the best ways to utilize this time can also be used to give your skin, hair, and body some love!

One word: HYDRATION

This time makes us able to focus on hydrating the body by keeping a full water bottle by your side all day as you go through work, projects, or other types of self care. Personally, I like to add frozen fruit like strawberries and lemon to my water bottle. It keeps the water cool and adds some flavor!

Give your skin some love! I’ve been using some face masks bought at Urban Outfitters, as well as the Aveda Tulasara Wedding Masque to hydrate my face (sometimes twice a day!). Use this time to do a body scrub: make your own with sea salt, coffee, and olive/coconut oil (add rose essential oil for moisture, or lavender for acne/bumps), or if you have it I’ve been using the Beautifying Radiance Polish from Aveda.

You can make your own hair masks, using avocado/coconut/jojoba oil (olive oil will do if you don’t have any of these, honey, and either avocado or plain yogurt.

One positive thing about this social distancing period is that my curls don’t have to be styled up every day, and are able to take a break and hydrate. I’ve been taking a break from washing my hair as often, and using masks and oils to help give my hair some much need moisture. You can make your own hair masks, using avocado/coconut/jojoba oil (olive oil will do if you don’t have any of these, honey, and either avocado or plain yogurt. I’ve also been using the Dry Remedy Moisturizing Hair Masque, and the Nutriplenish Multi-Use Hair Oil from Aveda, letting all masks sit for at least 20 minutes.
