Does the arrival of warmer temperatures and brighter skies (finally!) have you dreaming of summer concerts and patio dinners?  It is time to get ready to take on the warmer days ahead in style. Here are some of the hottest beauty trends for spring and summer and how you can get them.

Let’s talk hair.

First thing to note — beachy hair isn’t going anywhere (at least not any time soon). But there are a few twists on the beachy looks we’ve been seeing the past few years. We still love the classic tousled wave that’s been around a while. What we haven’t loved is the crunchy feeling that some salt spray products leave on our hair to create the look. Thankfully, Aveda introduced Texture Tonic late last year and we are obsessed. Now you can rock a beautiful head of soft, touchable waves and leave the crunch in the rearview mirror. It is a must-have for this summer staple look. Check out @NeroliSalonBrow on Instagram for more inspo.

This season, you may want to try this hot new style launched into relevance by Kendal Jenner. We can’t wait to see more of this uber chic slicked back look this summer. This variation of beachy hair is perfect if you want to look “fresh out of the surf” sporty or you can glam it up for a night on the town ala Kendal. Bang Bang Bang.

Since we’re on the topic of texture, let’s talk curls. They are everywhere and we are loving them. From the runways at Michael Kors to the  Maren Morris at the CMA’s, natural curls are popping up everywhere and taking the beauty industry by storm. From loose and romantic to springy and bouncy, what’s making this look fresh is the modern take on curly cuts.  Allure calls it a “curly shag” with fullness closer to the root and wispiness at the ends.  Think Baby in Dirty Dancing. No one is putting this look in the corner. Long, choppy bangs are showing up everywhere this season. Add a fringe to your current style for an easy update to your look.

Another spin on embracing natural texture is adding a fringe. Bangs are big this season, and adding a long bang to a curly shag adds an edgy, grown out feel that we can’t get enough of. Accessories Rule

A really big trend in beauty right now is the comeback of hair accessories. Clips, pins–and yes, even scrunchies showed up at New York Fashion Week. Our personal fave is the return of bows. Unlike their 80’s predecessor, the bows we’re seeing now are looser and more unstructured. And fabulous. Try pulling your hair into a low pony and tying  chiffon ribbon into a floppy bow as pictured on the right. Appropriate for work yet transitions well into evening, this summer beauty trend is sure to emerge as a go-to staple in your arsenal.

It’s All About That Face

When it comes to make up looks, mermaid colors will be making waves as we head into the warm weather months. Tones of turquoise, lime green and emerald are all the rage in eye shadows right now. Either lightly swept across the lid for a subtle hint of color or applied with a heavier hand for more drama, this trend screams summertime. If you’re vibing more  traditional, you may want to take note of the fresh faced look prevalent at Badgley Mishka. Featuring a bold red lip and not much else, what makes this look so irresistible is complexion perfection and those striking upswept brows. Stunning.

Nail It

No look is complete without a meticulously done manicure, and the cherry shades of red that are going to be so hot this year bring a little extra fun to a classic look. But for something more daring, try nail design. Unlike the nail art of the past, nail design typically features geometric patterns or texture. Especially cool right now are designs utilizing negative space like those pictured right.
