PEGGY GUGGENHEIM: ART ADDICT (2015, Documentary, 97 min, Dir. Lisa Immordino Vreeland)
Pollock, Dali, Rothko, Duchamp, Giacometti, Kandinsky, Cornell: What do all of these names have in common? Peggy Guggenheim, the unapologetic heiress who collected lovers at an almost equal pace with her true passion— modern art. Guggenheim lived a life as colorful and complex as the art she coveted bucking societal norms as a sexually empowered woman in an era where “ladies” simply did not do such things and discovering and championing some of the greatest names in 20th-century art. Recently discovered audio interviews with Guggenheim help ground this remarkable story of a woman ahead of her time who nevertheless helped define an era.
